Substance Use Disorder Services
Evie Life Psychiatry evaluates and manages patients with co-occurring mental health and
substance use disorders within the scope of outpatient psychiatric practice.
Alcohol Use Disorders
Patients presenting with mild to moderate Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) may be managed in-
house through:
- Psychiatric assessment
- Behavioral counseling
- Relapse prevention strategies
- Medication management when clinically appropriate
- Monitoring of psychiatric comorbidities
- Referral to higher levels of care when medically necessary
Patients requiring detoxification, intensive outpatient services, inpatient rehabilitation, or
specialized addiction programming are referred to appropriate community-based treatment
providers.
Medication-Assisted Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder (MAOUD)
At this time, Evie Life Psychiatry does not directly provide ongoing Medication-Assisted
Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder (MAOUD), including methadone maintenance programs or
comprehensive opioid treatment programs.
Patients identified as needing MAOUD services are referred on a case-by-case basis to
specialized addiction treatment centers and community partners capable of providing
comprehensive opioid use disorder treatment services. Referral partners may include
organizations such as Symetria Recovery, which provides outpatient addiction treatment,
medication-assisted treatment (MAT/MAOUD), counseling, and recovery support services.
Referrals are coordinated based on:
- Clinical severity
- Patient preference
- Insurance participation
- Geographic accessibility
- Availability of specialized addiction services
The clinic maintains continuity of psychiatric care whenever clinically appropriate while
coordinating with external addiction treatment providers.
Access to Care and Commitment to Underserved Populations
Evie Life Psychiatry is committed to improving access to behavioral health services for
underserved communities through:
- Telehealth availability
- Acceptance of multiple insurance plans, including Medicaid and Medicare
- Sliding scale options when available
- Culturally sensitive and trauma-informed care
- Coordination with community resources and specialty providers
The clinic adheres to applicable federal and state regulations regarding patient privacy,
nondiscrimination, and ethical behavioral health practice.
Referral and Care Coordination Policy
When patient needs exceed the clinic’s scope of outpatient psychiatric care, referrals are made to
appropriate specialty providers, including:
- Addiction treatment centers
- Detoxification programs
- Intensive outpatient programs (IOP)
- Inpatient psychiatric facilities
- Community counseling services
- Emergency services and crisis stabilization programs
Care coordination efforts are documented in the patient’s medical record to support continuity
and quality of care.
Policy Review
This policy may be reviewed and updated periodically to ensure compliance with state
regulations, and evolving clinical standards of care.
